Registered Physiotherapist
Director of Rehabilitation Services
BScPT, FCAMT, Dip Manual & Manipulative Physiotherapy, Certified Active Release
Techniques (ART) Provider
Lisa graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto in 1995. She also holds a
Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy (Part B’s) since 2001. She
provides on field sports therapy coverage for the Toronto Dragons Rugby Football Club
since 2009 and has provided physio event coverage for ultimate Frisbee, Skate
Canada, and the Canadian Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships.
Lisa has also worked on site as a physiotherapist at the Princess of Wales Theatre and
the Ford Center for Performing Arts. She has had the privilege of working with Tony
award winning actors and dancers. Casts she has worked with include Sweeney Todd,
Fosse, Fame, Rent, Mamma Mia, and Les Miserables.
In addition to her clinical work, Lisa is a registered instructor teaching courses in the
Level system of the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
These are a series of standardized manual therapy based courses that physiotherapists
can pursue after graduating. She has also been invited to give lectures on core stability,
weightlifting injuries, running injuries, and nerve injuries. She is involved in mentoring
both undergraduate and graduate physiotherapists, and has been a clinical preceptor
for students from the University of Toronto Masters of Science in Physical Therapy
program.
Lisa uses a variety of treatment approaches including manual therapy and myofascial
techniques, taping, movement re-education, exercise, Pilates/Yoga, sports and
plyometric training. She is certified in medical acupuncture from McMaster University
(member of the Canadian Academy of Medical Acupuncture) as well as having taken
Level 1-3 courses through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. She is a full body certified Active Release Technique provider and a member of the National Strength
and Conditioning Association currently preparing for her Certified Strength and
Conditioning Specialist designation.
Life experience has been part of Lisa’s greatest education. At a high school training
camp at Michigan State University, she tore her knee ligaments and meniscus playing
basketball. After having surgical complications that required more knee surgeries, she
appreciates both the physical and mental impact that injuries can bring. The wisdom
gained from having extensive therapy provides the basis for getting her patients back
to their personal best.
