Class Descriptions
YOGA CLASSES

Yoga is a series of asanas or postures which use breath to focus the mind. This brings self-awareness and stress relief by deepening the connection between mind and body. These classes are suitable for general fitness (Vinyasa Yoga & Alignment Yoga), stress reduction and chronic pain (Restorative Yoga), as well as deepening the knowledge of the seasoned yoga practitioner (Alignment Yoga).

Alignment
Alignment-based classes are drawn from the ashtanga form. This yoga class is taught by Riki Richter who has been teaching anatomy classes to yoga and pilates teachers for over a decade. She has completed her 5th year of osteopathic study and combines her knowledge of yoga and osteopathy into an alignment specific class that respects the biomechanical principles of the body. Suitable for the student working through an injury or wanting to deepen their understanding of movement principles.
Class limited to 8 people.

Vinyasa
A class based on the dynamic ashtanga practice in which a sequence of asanas (physical postures) is linked through breath and vinyasa. Vinyasa, in this context, can be seen as re-setting the body through movement. In order to create and maintain balance in the body, poses are followed not only by counter-poses but also evolutionary, progressive and complimentary poses. Focus is placed on the therapeutic benefits of a physical yoga practice. Attention to breath creates heat and promotes mental clarity. Through asana, strength is developed alongside flexibility.
Class limited to 12 people.

Restorative
A class that promotes deep relaxation. Practioners are supported by props to help release tension and gently re-align the body. Suitable for the student that is injured, has elevated stress levels or is in chronic pain.
Class limited to 8 people.
